About the group

Objective

To provide monthly guided walks for our U3A members who enjoy the local countryside and wish to walk for pleasure, health and friendship.

Type of Walking

Easy or moderate using pavements, minor roads, public footpaths, bridleways, disused railway lines, canal and river paths.

Walks are as follows:

Short Walks – up to 4 miles
These take place on the 3rd Tuesday of each month starting at 10.30am from the Village Hall Car Park.  Normally walks will be closer to 3 miles than 4 and we always strive to have a shorter alternative walk for those who require it. There is usually a cafe or pub at the end of the walk for refreshments.

Longer Walks – up to 8 miles
These take place on the 2nd Tuesday of each month. Refer to the Walks Programme for meeting points and start times. Often there is a cafe or pub at the end of the walk for refreshments. A packed lunch can be taken if preferred.

Many of the walks necessitate Car Sharing or the use of Public Transport.

Currently, No Dogs are allowed on the Walks.

How to join a Walk

Just turn up at the designated time and meeting point.
Recommended Equipment
•    Walking Boots or Stout Shoes
•    Back pack
•    Wet weather gear
•    Drinks, food etc.

Medical Form

To help deal with an emergency situation, walkers are encouraged to carry a Personal Medical Form containing details of next of kin, any medication taken, known allergies or ongoing medical conditions etc. Medical Forms for this purpose are available from the Walk Leader.

Walkers are reminded that they walk at their own risk and are responsible for their own personal safety.

For further information contact the Group Leader.
