Memory Workshops

All those who signed the Interest List were invited to the Pre-Course Seminar on Friday 11th January 2013.  Twelve members were offered places:  The first Memory Workshops course was held on four consecutive Fridays: 15th and 22nd February, and the 1st and 8th March 2013 in the Centenary Lounge.   

Founders' Lecture April 2013

The inaugural Founders' Lecture will be given by Eric Midwinter at the Friends Meeting House, Euston, London NW1 at 2pm on Tuesday 9th April 2013.  The title of the lecture is "Schooldays Stories, Educational Failure and the U3A Ideal".  Eric will explain how schoolboy books and comics contributed to the creation of a secondary school system that is unfit for purpose.  The cost of tickets for the lecture is 5. Please apply to National Office, 19 East Street, Bromley BR1 1QE and make the cheque payable to The Third Age Trust.

National Summer Schools 2013

We have received details of the two summer schools:

The first one is held at Harper Adams University College Newport, near Telford from Monday 15th July to Thursday 18th July. There are nine courses to choose from including for example: Art of the 20th Centry – from Fauvism to Post-Modernism;  France – regards sur la France actuelle;  Geology – The Legacy of the Ice Age on the Cheshire/Shropshire Plain;  Recorder Ensemble Playing.

The second is held at The Royal Agriculture College, Cirencester from Monday 19th August to Thursday 22nd August
Again there are nine courses to choose from including Architecture - Palladian Architecture in 17th and 18th century Britain;  Drama – Argumentative and Passionate;  History - Fiction & Reality: ‘A passage to more than India’;  Singing for Pleasure.


National Conference and AGM 2013

There is more information in the Conference 2013 booklet  on the Third Age Trust website.  Ideally Keyworth U3A should be represented at the meeting, anyone interested should contact Ken Doyle as the representative could have the non-residential booking fee paid by Keyworth U3A.

Third Age Trust Online Courses

Memory Workshops

Starting in November a second (and possibly final) Memory Workshop is to be held and there are 2 places left.  There is a pre-course seminar on the afternoon of Friday 25th October followed by four consecutive Friday afternoon workshops starting on 15th November.  If you are interested please contact Sue O'Donoghue (937 2989) as soon as possible.
