Keyworth u3a Driving Workshop
In October 2022 32 members attended an interesting and interactive driving workshop with Via EM. Weheard about changes to the Highway Code and changes we may expect as we get older, and were given
the option to sign up for a free one-to-one driving session with an instructor. 16 members signed up for
these, and it will be great to hear how they get on! Everyone really enjoyed it, and our thanks go to
Autumn Rose and her colleagues.
Petanque
Tuesday 26 July 2022 saw the first of our new "Local Activities"
with a meal and petanque session at The Air Hostess in Tollerton. Great
fun was had by all, and we think it might be a good idea to start a
petanque group.
u3a at Keyworth Show
Keyworth u3a had a stall at the Keyworth Show on 2 July 2022. There was a good deal of interest from the public. During the show we were wonderfully entertained by Jacki Davis from the Ukulele Strummers Group, despite fierce competition from the traction engine, live music and the show ring. Thank you to all the volunteers who manned the tent and made for a very successful show.
Remembrance Service
Remembrance Sunday was the 14th November 2021, and for the first time the ceremony was held within the rectory field rather than alongside Nottingham Road. The members of the various Keyworth organisations, churches and council laid wreaths by the gates which record the fallen of Keyworth for both world wars. Robin Wilcockson laid the wreath on behalf of our u3a as members of the public and scout movement stood alongside in the rectory field.
Keyworth Square Publicity
On Saturday, 9th October 2021 Christianne, Jackie and Sue, three committee members, had apresence outside the Co-op in The Square to publicise our u3a. They enjoyed brilliant sunshine
and answered questions from the public. A big thank you to them.
